I’ve been shopping quite a bit on ASOS recently (it’s my favourite online store) and came across these beautiful midi skirts that are so perfect for work or even casual wear. The best part is that they don’t cost a bomb either! To browse through more skirts (including mini’s and maxi’s) and bag that sale item, head on over to the skirt department in The Style Store now!
I did my second-ever video, this time on a dramatic cat eye look for Asians. The front part of the video where I applied foundation and drew in the lines for the liner aren’t included, as they weren’t filmed. My SD card had filled up pretty quickly with photos and pictures from my recent trip to Malaysia!
A little bit about creating this look:
Start with the end in mind. As an Asian, I have the typical hooded lids many Asians have. So, I begin by drawing the outline of the cat eye first and then filling it up with black – lots of it! The black colour should be visible when the eyes are fully opened, and give that extra pop of feline seduction when eyes are closed. Liquid liner on top of the gel liner helps to add an extra depth to the black shade, while eyeshadow on top of this helps to seal everything in and prevent creasing or smudging.
The first time I ever heard of Jimmy Choo was when I watched the first Sex and the City movie (I’ve never watched the TV series). As much as I hated Carrie, I couldn’t help noticing how much she loved those sandals of hers and at that time in my life, I was coincidentally on the hunt for comfortable heels. I still don’t own any Jimmy Choo footwear – and someday I will – but hey, now at least I have a fragrance from the label!
Exotic is not the first fragrance from Jimmy Choo, but I must say it is the most eye-catching. Combining fiery red with milder colours, the snakeskin pattern exudes a feeling of explosive exuberance. Sadly this does not translate onto the bottle itself – I’d have loved it to be so!
Top notes: blackcurrant sorbet and pink grapefruit
Middle notes: passion flower and tiger orchid
Base notes: raspberry and patchouli
If you’re in Singapore, you can get yours at Metro Paragon. A 100ml bottle is priced at S$145, while the smaller 60ml bottle is priced at S$112. For those of you who are residing elsewhere, you can get the fragrance at The Style Store too! Tell me, will you be getting one?
Oh my goodness, I’m so excited to share with you today on Crabtree & Evelyn‘s new Pear and Pink Magnolia Collection! I caught sight of this new range in stores when I dropped by to collect a couple of Hand Therapy tubes (new packaging, yay!). A whiff was all I needed to get hooked onto the new scent.
First up, the packaging is lovely. If you know me by now, you’ll know I cannot resist anything that’s pink in colour, especially when it’s coupled with pretty florals and anything elegant or feminine!
Secondly, the scent is sweet but not to the extent where ants and bees would want to be your friend. It’s not overwhelmingly pear, but yet not too flowery either. Juicy is the word. The fragrance is blended with lemon, jasmine, osmanthus, as well as orris, on top of the two main ingredients. Here’s the collection in a nutshell:
Hey guys! I finally got down to filming my very first FOTD video! It’s taken me 2 years to finally do this and I really don’t know why it took so long. If you’ve been following the blog, you’ll know I recently got the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette and I just can’t seem to put it down whenever I need a good neutral look.
Here’s the video, but I must warn you that not everything I did was filmed. It’s after all my first time doing this and it was quite spontaneous, actually. Hope you like it, and please subscribe to my new channel!

A shot with the wonderful view that reminds me so much of New York.
According to Chinese face reading, people with large nostrils tend to spend more money (either on themselves or on others). A short nose indicates a hard worker, while a long nose indicates a leader. Looking at this description, it seems like my natural nose means I most probably won’t ever get rich nor be my own boss. There’s nothing about that which I like.
The Chinese also believe that when you change a feature on your face, you change your destiny. While plastic surgery may be a little too drastic for most, fillers are a great, non-invasive, non-drastic way to alter your appearance.
For the longest time ever (say, 15 years now), I’ve been pretty conscious about the way my nose looked. From the front, I looked as if I had four eyes – two real eyes and two somewhere in the middle of my face. From the side, I looked like a pancake slightly curved inward. Every time I looked forward, I could feel my nostrils poring into another person’s gaze. I hated it. A lot. I’d often wish my nose looked normal. I still do, actually, and ever since I did dermal fillers for the first time a couple of years ago, I’ve come to realise that I can’t ever live without them now.
In November last year, I decided to drop by EPW Laser + Medical Aesthetics Clinic to get my nose touched up with more fillers, especially since my previous session had been about 5 months prior to that.

It’s not always that easy to keep to a strict diet all the time. My weak point is always a good classic fondant au chocolate with a single – read, generous – scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. But come to think of it, it’s also not always that easy to eat junk all the time. Every once in a while, I like to detox, be it doing a simple drink-as-much-water-as-I-can-in-the-day or enjoying a cup of detox tea (I’m currently loving the BB Detox Tea by Kusmi Tea, available at Harrods). The most recent discovery from my sister is fruit infused water left to cool in the fridge. It’s easy to prepare and oh-so-refreshing!
How often do you detox? How often do you feed your soul? Here are five new links to share today on things that affect my mood – and will probably affect yours too.
Libraries are awesome. I just visited one last weekend and brought home Bobbi Brown’s Pretty Powerful for a relaxing read. I finally have my hands on it! Well, for a good three weeks anyway. Nonetheless, feeling that solid, hardcover on my hands and seeing it on my table top has inspired me to write about how to look fresh, even when you just don’t feel good or in the mood.
1) Good, consistent skincare routine
The basis of every face is a good skincare routine. Most people don’t have problems with cleansing or toning, especially since we now know the prowess of sonic cleansers, and the problem usually comes under how to get optimal moisturising. Once you’ve found that moisturiser that works for your face, stick to it and include that in your twice-daily routine. A good point to remember is that dry skin ages you.
2) Get enough sleep.
That’s the first thing I always say when someone asks me for a good remedy for dark eye circles. Not only is this a tried and tested method to look fresher, it has also been scientifically proven to make you more efficient at work (or whatever it is you do during your waking hours). The body rids itself of toxins when you sleep, and the best time for this detox is between 11pm to 2am every night.
3) Drink enough fluids.
I often struggle with this as I’ve yet to find the balance between drinking enough and drinking too much. Fluids can include anything from plain water to juices, as long as it’s not coffee or tea.
