My picks for Monique Lhuillier’s SS 2016 Collection. More over on NYFW.com.
We’re finally on the last leg of all the fashion weeks this year, where designers present their SS 2016 collections. Lots of fluff, prints, bright shades and textures for us to play with, and lots of models taking great care not to fall off them towering heels. While the rest of the fashion world busy themselves amidst the flurry that is Paris Fashion Week, let’s take a look at what’s gone down in the other major fashion cities!
Now who says you can’t wear a dress for a day at the beach? This outfit was put together with pieces from Aijek and Amado Gudek, which are currently exclusive brands on multi-label retailer SocietyA in Singapore.
SocietyA was set up just last year, in 2014, and features up-and-coming Asian designers, such as ti:baeg, Xoori (a personal favourite) and LIE. If you are looking for something that’s different from the ordinary and that can take you places, you won’t want to give SocietyA a miss. The greatest part is that for the next month starting today, you can get 20% off your total purchase when you shop on SocietyA, when you use code “ROXANNE20” at checkout. I don’t know about you, but 20% off anything with high quality is a great save.
Dr. Winston Lee, Medical Director of South Bridge Aesthetics (SBA) Clinic, Singapore.
Everyone dreams of having a perfect complexion. In every fashion advertorial we see, every model on Vogue’s cover page that stares sullenly back at us and every K-pop girl band music video, it seems as though attaining a flawless, youthful complexion is as easy as ABC. Photoshop makes it look like even the guys have no skin woes.
But things cannot be further from the truth. As I’m writing this in the quiet of my living room, the haze blows through my windows and the current 3-hour PSI reading is 93 (thank you Twitter). Sometimes, a good diet, exercise and proper sleep can only do so much when you’re living in a polluted city and facing non-stop stress at work.
That’s why today, I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Winston Lee, Medical Director of Southbridge Aesthetics Clinic Singapore, some questions about a unique facial treatment that they offer, known as Carbon Laser Peel, that can help you improve the way your skin looks and feels. He also dishes out skincare advice for women of different age groups. If you’ll like to find out more, read on.
It’s the time of the year when the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is on again! To save you some precious time – lord forbid anyone else getting to the items before you! – I’ve selected some beauty exclusives from the sale event which you’ll be happy to bag.
If you’ll like to see more, head on over to the Nordstrom sale site. After all, there’s nothing wrong with snooping around a little bit just to see what’s up for grabs, is there. Just remember: The sale ends 3rd August 2015.
We all know that many chemicals are harmful. That’s why many beauty companies are changing their manufacturing processes to cut down on these chemicals, either completely or by substantial amounts.
I was lucky enough to get to try the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon from newly launched Spanish brand, Naturalium. The brand was founded in 2014 and only made its way to our humble shores this year. All of their products are made with no parabens, colourants and phthalates. In case you were wondering, parabens and colourants can cause cancer, while phthalates are known to affect reproductive systems in mice and humans.
Here’s a closer look at the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon.
If you’re reading this post, chances are you’ve shopped online before. What if I told you, you could earn some of that money back when you spend it on a new dress?
Mais oui, bien sûr.
If you frequent online fashion stores like ASOS, Zalora, Lazada and Shopbop; buy travel tickets or booked accommodation on Rail Europe, Expedia and Agoda; or even grab a coupon or two from Groupon, getting some of that money back will save you some serious cash over time and lessen your spending.
I was invited to give Shopback a try some weeks ago, and to summarise, I did get a percentage of my money spent back while shopping online. Shopback is a cashback site that pays you to shop with their partnered merchants – more than 500 of them. I used it to get something new for myself on Zalora and here’s a short tutorial (using Safari, with screenshots) for you, so you can see how it looks like before signing up.
What would you wear if you were invited to a party themed, “China: Through the Looking Glass?”
It seems, sadly, that quite a number of celebrities aren’t sure what the Chinese culture is like. I think, if I see one more phoenix, dragon or flamboyant headgear, I’m going to need to re-watch entire seasons of The Big Bang Theory to make me feel better again. Apart from those who opted for outfits that spoke nothing about the theme, those who tried too hard just bordered on the offensive.
But there were also the ones who shone bright like diamonds and stole the limelight for me. Here they are, my top 10 best dressed celebrities at the Met Gala 2015. After looking at the pictures, tell me your favourite!
As far as lingerie or beauty ad campaigns go, I’m all for promoting self-love. In 2013, Abercrombie & Fitch incurred the wrath of self-made activists by proclaiming their clothes were made for “good-looking people.” Tables were flipped, keyboard warriors went mental and bloggers such as Jes from The Militant Baker embarked on personal missions to make their voices heard.
More recently, Lane Bryant introduced their “I’m No Angel” campaign for their lingerie line. As a plus-size retailer, it’s no wonder they don’t subscribe to the stick-thin-with-enviable-cleavage notion that the Victoria’s Secret angels fit. Again, I’m all for supporting anyone who promotes self-love and self-confidence. But what I cannot see eye to eye with are hypocrites.
It’s already Wednesday but I’m still reeling from the awesomeness that is The Oscars this year. The turn-out was fantastic, as were the clothing and performances. These are my top picks from those who walked down the glorious Oscars 2015 red carpet. It’s no surprise that Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad made the list of designers featured here – they’re my all-time favourite designers.
And in case you missed it, here are the great performances by Neil Patrick Harris, Lady Gaga (great rendition of The Sound of Music), Common and John Legend.
I am in love! Have watched this several times, over and over again, and I still love each and every piece in this collection! Zuhair Murad is my favourite gown designer of all time, besides Elie Saab, and this collection, with all the sparkles and chiffon, just speaks out to me. Watch till the very end – the finale piece is absolutely stunning.
