Pressed, and not loose.

Hands up if you’ve ever lost precious poudre at the bathroom sink while opening up a tub. Hands up twice if you’ve misplaced powder puffs for loose powder. Gracious me, those things are like socks in the washer! Well, if you want to maximise your money’s worth where makeup is concerned, might I suggest you try pressed powder instead of a loose one. Personally, I find compacts much more convenient and so much less messy. Which is why I decided to give the Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder SPF 15 a try.

A closer look at the compact.

I guess you can say this is my first ever Laura Mercier product. The shade fits me perfectly and the powder gives a smooth finish. It has build able coverage but doesn’t absorb oil as well as some other compacts that are meant for oily skin. Touching up throughout the day is easy, especially since it comes with a sponge clasped between the powder and mirror on the top lid. The sponge has two sides, one smoother than the other to give better coverage. However, I don’t really use it much unless I’m left out of options – like when I forget my retractable Kabuki. I do like it that so far it hasn’t given me breakouts and it also has no scent. It may be on the higher end of the beauty scale in terms of price, but it is still a bit cheaper than the Dior range of foundations.

The finished product isn’t tested on animals, but I don’t exactly know what the “finished product” and “unfinished product” consist of, so take that with a pinch of salt. The ingredients are as follows:

Ingredient List

Zinc Oxide, Silica, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Lipids, Jojoba Esters, Pearl Powder, Lauroyl Lysine, Copper Gluconate, Zinc Gluconate, Camella Sinesis (White Tea) Extract, Lycium Chinesis (Lycii) Berry Extract and Silybum Marianum (Milk Thistle) Extract. May contain: Titanium Oxide (CI 77891), Mica (CI 77019), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499) and Ultramarines (CI 77007).
